Demond L. “Bob” Sanders was born in Erie, Pennsylvania, on February 24, 1981. Even though Bob Sanders is not known for being a very big guy, he quickly proved himself with his speed and strong plays. Even though Bob Sanders was not recruited out of high school, he did get a scholarship to the University of Iowa. He went on to have a very successful college career by having 348 tackles during his time in the University of Iowa. He graduated from Iowa in 2003 and was picked in the 2nd round of the 2004 NFL Draft as the 44th pick overall by the Indianapolis Colts.
When he started playing in the NFL, he quickly made a name for himself with his quick plays and for being the top player at his position. In 2006, he was chosen to play in the Pro Bowl and he was the only defensive player from the Colts to be chosen to play in the Pro Bowl that year. He has proven that he was a great addiction for the Colts by helping the team come back from one of the worst years defensively to become the second best run defense in the NFL. Bob Sanders helped the Indianapolis Colts win Super Bowl XLI, and in that game he was considered for MVP.
Bob Sanders has played hard and made a name for himself on the football field, he has also been involved in many great things and many charities. His foundation, named “Bob Sanders Chasing Dreams Foundation,” will help kids attend Colts games, attain money for college, visit children's museums, and accomplish many other things.
