Peyton Manning was the number one draft pick out of the University Of Tennessee in the 1998 NFL draft. He had an extremely good college career and had very good bloodlines being the son of ex-NFL quarterbacks Archie Manning. However it didn’t take Peyton long to emerge from dads shadow and become known for more than being Archie’s son.
In Peyton’s rookie season he set several rookie passing records on his way to showing great promise even though the Colts record was only 3-13. As the seasons went on Peyton very quickly established himself as one of the game’s elite passers, getting better every year. He is undisputedly one of the best game managers of all time because he is also a great student of the game, working hard so no defense can fool him.
His awards and accolades continue to accumulate as his assault on the record books also continues. With Peyton having already received three NFL MVP awards, a Super Bowl victory and MVP and four time First Team All Pro honors, all at the relatively young age of 33 years old, there is no doubt he will end up in the Hall Of Fame. One thing everyone needs to remember is that Peyton isn’t done yet. Even though Peyton is entering his 12th season he still seems to have many years of football left.
For anyone to say where Peyton’s place in history might be is a little premature at this time. There is no doubt he will go down as one of the games greats at his position, but where on the list of all time greats he will wind up is still to be determined
