The Colts have had a lot of great games that have defined the franchise’s history. Beating the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XLI was probably the greatest win but there have been other games that were significant in Colts history.
In 2003, the Colts were playing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Tampa. It was coach Tony Dungy's first game back in Tampa where he coached previously. Down by 21 points with little time remaining on the clock in the fourth quarter, the Colts rallied to score three touchdowns and force the game into overtime. Colts kicker Mike Vanderjagt won the game with a field goal for one of the greatest comebacks in team history
The Chargers – Colts game played in 2004 was another great comeback game. The Colts were down by 15 points late in the game when Dom Rhodes ran a kick off back for a touchdown that brought the Colts within 8 points. Peyton Manning, who was one touchdown pass away from the NFL record, hit Brandon Stokley for the record-breaking touchdown pass and pulled the Colts two points away from a tie. Manning and the Colts went for a two point conversion to tie the game. The Colts won the toss in overtime and won the game with a field goal in their first possession.
It was a snowy night in Denver in 2002 where the Broncos were playing host to the Colts. It was a back and forth game with each team going trying hard to keep the lead. Denver had a three point lead with less than two minutes to play when Peyton Manning drove the Colts into field goal territory. Mike Vanderjagt hit a 51-yard field goal to put the game into overtime. The Colts won the toss and Vanderjagt won the game with another long field goal.
