Bob Sanders

Bob Sanders is an NFL football player for the Indianapolis Colts. He played college football at the University of Iowa. He was born in 1981 and grew up in Erie, Pennsylvania. He went to Erie Cathedral Prep for high school.

Bob Sanders is in his sixth season in the NFL. He was a second round draft pick in 2004. He a defensive player at the position of safety. In 2007, he was named NFL Defensive Player of the Year. He has accumulated several nicknames. One is "The Hitman" because of the intensity with which he tackles the offense of the opposition. Another nickname is "The Sandman". He is sometimes called this because of his last name.

Career highlights include helping the Colts make it to and win Super Bowl XLI. His deflected pass in the AFC title game that year turned the tide, forcing the Patriots to punt and then allowing Peyton Manning to lead the offense down field for the game winning touchdown and clinch their spot to the Super Bowl.

In addition to a Super Bowl ring, he has been selected as an All-Pro two times and to the Pro-Bowl twice as well. He has amassed more than 287 tackles in his NFL career so far. He also has 3.5 sacks and 5 interceptions. Bob has moved to team leader for the Colts. In his position, he uses his speed, since his size is considered small for an NFL player. Because he always uses the fundamentals he was taught, it has helped him to become a great defensive player.
