Dwight Freeney

Dwight Freeney is currently a defensive end for the Indianapolis Colts. He was a first round, number 11 pick selected by the Colts in the 2002 NFL Draft from Syracuse University, where he set a school record with seventeen and a half sacks during his senior season.

In his first season with the Colts in 2002, Dwight set an NFL record for a rookie with nine forced fumbles, including three in one game against former Syracuse quarterback, now with the Philadelphia Eagles Donovan McNabb. Dwight had a great season and was the runner up for the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award. In his third season with the Colts in 2004, Dwight Freeney led the league with 16 sacks. But the highlight of his career occurred when he helped the Indianapolis Colts beat the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XLI. After the Super Bowl win in 2007, his rookie contract had expired, Dwight then signed a six year, $72,000,000 contract guaranteeing him $30,000,000 then making him the highest paid defensive player in the NFL. In the 2007 season Dwight suffered a Lisfranc fracture, and was out for the remainder of the season. In the 2008 season, Dwight made a great comeback from the injury and was again selected for the Pro Bowl.

Thus far, Dwight Freeney has had a very impressive career to his credit. A Super Bowl Ring, Four time selection for the Pro Bowl, three time All-Pro selection, has led the NFL season in sacks, and is the Indianapolis Colts career sack leader with 70.5.
