NFL Player Dwight Freeney

At 6ft, 270 lb, Dwight Freeney is a hard man to miss. An imposing defensive lineman, Freeney has been one of the starting defensive ends for the Indianapolis Colts for the last seven years.

Selected number eleven overall in the 2002 collegiate draft, Freeney has played his entire career with the Colts. In his 103 games, he has amassed 218 tackles and 70 sacks. He is the only Colt player in history to wrack up double-digit sacks in four consecutive seasons.

Freeney has anchored a stalwart defensive unit that drove the Colts to a Super Bowl win in 2006. In addition, he has also been named Defensive player of the week a half a dozen times and has been selected to play in the Pro-Bowl four times.

Freeney played his college ball at Syracuse University. During his career with the Orangemen, he became their #2 all-time sack leader and was a consensus All-American and All-Big East his final season with Syracuse. While at Syracuse, he set an NCAA record for forced fumbles and fumble recoveries for a defensive end.

During his third professional season, Freeney led the league in sacks and became the first Colt player ever to accomplish this feat. Currently, he is the second all-time sack leader in Colts history. In the 2008 season, Freeney registered ten sacks, twenty-eight tackles, and four forced fumbles.

Freeney’s two greatest games came early in his career. During his rookie season he chalked up seven tackles, three forced fumbles, four quarterback pressures, and one sack against the Eagles. The following season he had a six tackle, three sack, and two forced fumble game against the Dolphins.
