A great athlete he is. Demond "Bob" Sanders was born in Pennsylvania in 1981. His first name was hard to pronounce, so he asked his parents to change it, but his mother suggested to go by the nickname of Bob. So it stands.
Bob went to school at Erie Central High School for his freshman year, and then transferred to the Cathedral Preparatory School where he graduated in 2000. Sanders played football the whole time he was in school. Bob was able to letter there, along with being chosen to participate in the All Conference twice and a third team selection at All-State. While in school, he played safety as well as running back. By the time he was a senior, he became the team captain.
From Cathedral, he went on to the University of Iowa. By 2003, he was named MVP for the year. Bob graduated that year with a major in African-American World Studies. In 2004, Bob was drafted to play for the Indianapolis Colts. He first started as a rookie playing a backup safety. He managed to score his first touchdown against the Houston Texans in the first season. He started most games by 2005, and played in the 2006 Pro Bowl as a defensive back.
Bob was able to help his team play and win the Super Bowl XLI. In 2007, he was named AFC Defensive Player of the season. Also in 2007, he signed a contract with the Colts that made him the highest paid safety in NFL history. That year he was named the AP Defensive Player for the whole year.
In 2008, Bob had missed some games due to ankle and knee injuries. He has since had ankle surgery, but his knee still has some problems.
