When it comes to elite receivers in the National Football (NFL), Marvin Harrison cannot be overlooked. Harrison is currently a free agent, but until now he spent his entire professional career with the Indianapolis Colts. Over the course of his long career, Harrison has set many team and NFL records. Harrison grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he attended Roman Catholic High School. There he was an all around athlete, playing in tennis, football, soccer and basketball. After high school, Harrison went on to attend and play for Syracuse University. While attending Syracuse, Harrison had the good fortune of playing with all pro quarterback Donovan McNabb, and he set the school record for receiving yards.
Harrison graduated from Syracuse University and was drafted in the 1996 NFL draft by the Indianapolis Colts with the 19th pick. The Colts welcomed the talented young receiver and this didn’t disappoint his fans. In his first year with the Colts, Harrison played in all 16 games and had 836 receiving yards with eight touchdowns. The second year for Harrison was equally as successful as his first; he played in all 16 games and had 866 yards receiving with six touchdowns.
After an injury that sidelined him for a few games in the 1998 season, Harrison became the dream fantasy football player to have on your team in 1999. From 1999 to 2002, Harrison remained healthy and put up record breaking numbers scoring 52 touchdowns and recording 6,322 receiving yards. A lot of this had to do with the addition of quarterback Peyton Manning. Harrison continued to show great teamwork and continued to put up great numbers. Over his entire career with the Colts, Harrison has recorded 14,580 receiving yards and 128 touchdowns.
