Marvin Harrison is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He began his sports career in high school, playing football, basketball, soccer, and tennis. His football career led him to Syracuse, where he was a standout receiver, setting a national record for receiving yards and second most touchdowns in school history, with 20. After college, Marvin Harrison was drafted into the NFL by the Indianapolis Colts. In his years with the Colts, he became one of the most productive receivers ever. He was a teammate of Peyton Manning and they enjoyed a great relationship on the field as they went on to win a Super Bowl. He became one of many elite receivers, having over 1000 receptions and 100 touchdowns in his career.
Marvin Harrison has been called one of the most humble players in the game. This is a major compliment, as many wide receivers are considered to be prima donnas, especially since he was drafted into the league with a group of receivers such as Terrell Owens, Keyshawn Johnson, and Amani Toomer. Harrison has also become part of many charitable organizations during his career. He is always giving to needy children and families through organizations such as Northwestern Humane Services, the Terre Haute Hyte Center, and the March of Dimes, to name just a few.
After a brilliant career, Marvin Harrison asked for his release from the Indianapolis Colts and is still seeking employment as a free agent. There have been very few teams to show any real interest in him and his chances of being hired grow fewer as the 2009 season nears.
