Jean and Marion Sanders had a son on February 24, 1981 and they named him Demond Sanders. Many people appeared to have difficulty with pronunciation of his name so Marion and Demond decided on “Bob.” That was the first of many nicknames for this football player.
This Erie, Pennsylvania native was a highly successful high school athlete that graduated in 2000. A scholarship from the University of Iowa began the next leg of Bob’s career. Despite a foot injury in his college senior year, he still managed to play and was named Most Valuable Player. Bob weighed in at 206 pounds and stands 5’8.” Size could not stop Bob from being a hard hitter, impressive player and very dedicated to winning. He was always a fan favorite and his tenacity is one of the many reasons fans are thrilled with Bob’s performance.
Professionally, Bob was a second round draft pick for the 2004 NFL season by the Indianapolis Colts. Again, Bob showed the same determination to win and ability to be a hard hitter and talented player. This impressive player fought knee and foot injuries in his career, but his five years were well played, remarkable and impressive. Talented and determined, Bob made fans proud.
This is no ordinary player to be sure. Bob continues to be a source of conversation for all his fans.
