Demond "Bob" Sanders was born Febuary 24, 1981 in Erie, Pennsylvania to the proud parents of Jean and Marion Sanders. Before transferring to Cathedral Preparatory School, he attended Erie Central High School for a year. At Cathedral Preparatory School, he was a letterman football player and the team's running back. He later became captain in his senior year and finished the season with 990 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns. In the year 2000, he graduated from high school. Sanders height and size was the main reason he didn't get recruited right out of high school, but he was offered a scholarship from the University of Iowa, which he accepted. In his career at Iowa, Sanders recorded 348 tackles and graduated in 2003, majoring in African-American Studies.
This is Sander's 6th season playing in the NFL. He was drafted in the NFL in 2004, in the second round at number 44 by the Indianapolis Colts. During his rookie season, he was the back-up safety, but his season was cut short due to a foot and knee injury. In 2005, he started 10 games and was the first defensive back for the Colts to make the pro bowl since moving to the team. In 2006, Sanders was a big reason the Colts had victory at Super Bowl XLI. In 2007, because of his 11 tackles against the Tennessee Titans, he was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week.
Bob Sanders is the top paid safety in the NFL today. Sanders has suffered many injuries throughout his career in the NFL, but he has always had a major comeback every time, making his fans proud.
