He is a wide receiver with the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League. He was born September 18, 1984, in Avon Lake, Ohio. He attended Ohio State University and was picked in the first round of the 2007 National Football draft, at number 32.
He began his professional football career with the Indianapolis Colts in the 2007 season and remains there today, looking forward to the 2009 season. In his two years with the Colts, he has caught 94 passes totaling 1,240 yards and he has made seven touchdowns.
His high school education was obtained at St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland, Ohio. He participated in both football and track where he excelled in both. He played both defense and offense on the football field and when he was a senior he was named Defensive Player of the Year by the associated Press.
During his college years at Ohio State, not only was he an aspiring professional football player, he was also an academic standout as a philosophy major. He lettered in three of his years at Ohio State. In his junior year he was picked as All-Big Ten by his coaches.
He stands six foot tall and tips the scales at 193 pounds. His reception stats for 2007 were 37 and 2008, 57. In 2007, he scored three touchdowns and in 2008, four. If his increase in performance says anything, it should be telling us that Gonzalez is getting better every year, and could ultimately become a force to be reckoned with in the future.
