Professional football player Adam Vinatieri was born on December 28th, 1972 in Yankton, South Dakota. He and his wife Valeri, along with their two children live in Carmel, Indiana during the football season and in Celebration, Florida the rest of the year. Vinatieri plays the position of placekicker for the Indianapolis Colts, and is listed at 6'0" tall, weighing 202 pounds.
Vinatieri's National Football League career has been very impressive, and culminated in his kicking the game-winning field goal for the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXVI. As historically clutch kicker, Vinatieri has led his team to victory 20 times on the strength of his talented right foot. From 1996-2008 he has kicked 10 field goals of at least 50 yards or more. In every one of Vinatieri's 12 seasons he has scored more than 100 points per year.
Most importantly, Vinatieri has played in five Super Bowls, which is a record for placekickers. Vinatieri is the winner of a staggering 4 Super Bowl rings, and has earned the nicknames "Automatic Adam" and "Iceman" because of his incredible poise under pressure. He able to remain both accurate and calm in front of 71,525 screaming fans who are expecting yet another game-winning kick.
Vinatieri has said that every person on the team he plays for matters to him. His former coach Bill Belichick calls him "the ultimate luxury" because of his ability to make the kicks that truly matter. His personal kicking technique is to always make sure to hit them straight, which is why his kicks do not seem to drift.
Vinatieri's attention on the field does not drift either during a game. He watches whenever his team moves past the 50-yard line, and then makes his move to a practice area, where he starts booting balls into the net. Vinatieri has said in the past that "It's easy for me to block everything out," which explains how Adam Vinatieri has successfully converted some of the most pressure packed kicks in the history of the NFL.
