Marvin Harrison

Marvin Harrison was born on August 25, 1972 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He played football for Roman Catholic High School Philadelphia. He went on to be a standout wide receiver at Syracuse University where he played with Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb. Harrison was drafted in 1996 with the 19th pick in the first round by the Indianapolis Colts.

Since joining the Colts, Marvin Harrison has become one of the most prolific wide receivers ever to play in the National Football League. As a tandem, he and Peyton Manning currently hold the record for most receptions and touchdown passes between a quarterback and wide receiver. He has far surpassed the accomplishments of other receivers in his draft class, including Keyshawn Johnson, Terry Glenn, Eddie Kennison, Eric Moulds, Amani Toomer, Muhsin Muhammed and even Terrell Owens, none of whom have been as consistent. He is one of only four wide receivers ever to amass 1,000 receptions. The other three are Jerry Rice, Chris Carter and Tim Brown. All three of them are now in the NFL Hall of Fame. Harrison was released by the Indianapolis Colts on February 24, 2009.

One blemish arose in Marvin Harrison's life. A man was shot outside of a Philadelphia business owned by Harrison on April 29, 2008. The man indicated to police that Harrison was the shooter but in the official police report that was filed, he said that two men shot him during a robbery attempt. No charges have ever been filed against Harrison, but the man is pursuing a civil complaint.
