Peyton Manning

Peyton Manning was born in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1976. He played college football at the University of Tennessee instead of going to Old Miss where his father played. His father Archie was a great NFL quarterback in his time, and his brother Eli is currently quarterback for the New York Giants. Many people were shocked when he didn't play for the same school where his famous father played. It's no shock, however, that he is Tennessee's all time leading passer. In his career at Tennessee, he threw for 11,201 yards. As a starter he won 39 out of 45 games. He could have skipped his senior year and been a first round draft pick in the NFL, but he decided to return for his senior year, even though by then he had already earned his degree.

When he did enter the 1998 NFL draft, the Indianapolis Colts made him the first overall selection. Since his professional career began, he has thrown for at least 25 touchdowns and passed for over 3,000 yards every season, and been named to the Pro Bowl nine times. Manning and Colts receiver Marvin Harrison formed the most potent 1-2 punch in football, and he would often call the plays himself from the huddle or at the line of scrimmage.

Manning's biggest achievement to date was leading the Colts to victory in Super Bowl XLI in 2007 after defeating the Chicago Bears 29-17. He also took home the MVP award. Peyton Manning is, and continues to be, one of the best quarterbacks in the game today.
