Bob Sanders and the Indianapolis Colts

Demond "Bob" Sanders was born in Erie, Pennsylvania on February 24, 1981 and is currently a safety for the Colts. The Indianapolis team is the only one he has played for in his professional career. Years before he began his professional career he played football for four years at Cathedral Preparatory School in Erie, Pennsylvania where he lettered every year. He was also team captain his senior year and played in the All-State game.

After high school Sanders attended the University of Iowa on a scholarship where he majored in African-American studies. He attended Iowa and played for the Hawkeyes for four years. His sophomore year he was First Team All-Big Ten. During his junior year he was a Fourth-Team All-Big Ten along with Second-Team All-American. He achieved this even though he had a foot injury early in the year.

After college he was chosen by the Indianapolis Colts in the second round of the 2004 draft. His first year he was mostly a backup player. He also had problems with injuries with his knee and foot. In 2005 he fared much better and started in 10 games. He also played in the Pro Bowl.

In the 2006 season he again had problems with his knee injury and only competed in four games until the playoffs. He was part of the Super Bowl XLI champions for the year. In the 2007 season he was the AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year and the GMC Defensive Player of the Year. He also signed a new five year contract with the Colts. In 2008 Sanders again experienced problems with injuries causing him to miss most of the season.
