Payton William Manning was born in New Orleans, Louisiana March 24, 1976. Payton is the oldest son of Archie Manning who was the former quarterback of the New Orleans Saints. His brother, Eli is the quarterback for the New York Giants and his younger brother, Cooper was receiver for Ole Miss until he was diagnosed with spinal stenosis.
Payton played football is high school at Isidore Newman and University of Tennessee. During the 1998 NFL draft Payton was picked by the Indianapolis Colts in the first pick.
Payton married his college girl friend Ashley Thompson in 2001.
In high school Payton started three successive seasons as quarterback. He threw 7,2007 yards and 92 touchdowns, leading the team 34-5. He was Gatorade Player of the year in 93-94 for the University of Tennessee.
Payton Manning holds many NFL records. Touchdown passes he had 49 in 2004, a successive seasons with 4,000 passing yards. Payton has thrown 275 touchdowns in his career thus far. This ranks him seventh all-time; has thrown a total 37,586 yards ranking him thirteenth.
Payton Manning has besides playing football appeared in television and printed advertisements. He has worked for Sprint, Sony, MasterCard, Gatorade, DirecTV, and the Red Cross. A spokesman for Xbox’s NFL Fever for 2002, 2003, and 2004 and was on all three covers of the game. He has hosted Saturday Night Live on March 24, 2007 and in May 2007 he waved the green flag to start the 91st running of the Indianapolis 500.
