When you think of famous football players and famous football games who do you think of? Which players stand out when you remember the 1971 and 2006 Super Bowls? You should be thinking of the Baltimore Colts' Jonny Unitas and Peyton Manning.

The Indianapolis Colts started their franchise in Baltimore, Maryland and played in that city for more than forty years with Johnny Unitas as their most famous player. He was a spectacular quarterback that led professional football with many impressive statistics. He led the league in the most touchdown passes in four consecutive seasons. He was the league's Most Valuable Player in the years of 1964 and 1967 and was named at the end of his career as the player of the decade for the 1960's. He led his team to a World Championship or what we would call a Super bowl in 1971.

The team moved to Indianapolis in 1984 and in 1998 obtained the young quarterback, Peyton Manning. He has only played for ten years but in at least three of those years he has passed for over 4,000 yards. He has the highest career passing rate of any current quarterback still playing the game and only ranks second behind Steve Young as the all time best quarterback. Finally, he is the all time career leader for the Colt franchise in passing yards and touchdowns scored.

Players like Johnny Unitas and Peyton Manning are the glue which builds teams capable of winning the super bowl. These two quarterbacks have very impressive records and were very instrumental in leading their team to impressive seasons and critical wins like the 1971 and 2006 Super Bowls.
