Old Time Colts Players

The Indianapolis Colts have had some great players pass through their organization over the years. They have nine former players who have been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, many of which played while the team was still located in Baltimore. There are also a number of players who may not have made it into the Hall of Fame, but were still great players.

One of the most recognizable old time Colts players is Johnny Unitas. He is regarded as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time, and was nicknamed the Golden Arm. He set many records for quarterbacks at the time, and was the first to ever reach 40,000 passing yards. Another recognizable former Colts player is Eric Dickerson. Although he did not play his entire career with the Colts, he did have some successful seasons with the team, being the first Colts running back to lead the league in rushing. Other former Colts players to be inducted into the Hall-of-Fame include Raymond Berry, Art Donovan, Ted Hendricks, John Mackey, Gino Marchetti, Lenny Moore, and Jim Parker. Other notable former Colts players include Bobby Boyd, Mike Curtis, Fred Miller, Willie Richardson, and Buddy Young.

The Colts have had arguably the greatest quarterback and the greatest running back play for their organization, as well as many other great players. The list of great players is extensive, whether it was Baltimore or Indianapolis. They have many great players today as well and some may also be considered one of the greatest when their careers are over.
