The 2008 Colts

The Indianapolis Colts opened the 2008 season at home in a new stadium, in prime time, in a rematch of Superbowl XLI against the Chicago Bears. But despite the fanfare, they lost 29-13. They settled for a consolation prize though, a brand new retractable roof facility, which replaced the RCA Dome, their home for the past 24 years.

Although Manning and company started off this year looking out of character, having entered their bye week with a 1-2 record, they're slowly becoming more and more recognizable these days. They may not be as explosive as the Super Bowl champion team, but nevertheless the 2008 Colts are starting to contour their own identity. By defeating the Cleveland Browns despite scoring a season-low 10 points, there are glimpses of hope that maybe this team has the defense needed to win games without consistently depending on a dominating offense. With recent wins over the Steelers, Chargers, and Patriots (minus Brady), the Colts have put themselves back in contention to grab a playoff spot. Although a division title is out of reach, the Colts are poised to secure a Wild Card berth if they can continue their current form.

Indianapolis will play three of its last four games at home. Also, three of the four teams they will face have losing records. They seem to be gelling at just the right time and definitely have the experience. So if coach Tony Dungy really does retire after this season, there's a possibility he could very well go out a winner! Manning vs Manning in Super Bowl XLIII?
