For Peyton Manning, success in the game of football is sort of a family thing. Peyton was born on March 24, 1973 to fellow football great Archie Manning and his wife Olivia. Peyton is one of 3 brothers, and his brother Eli is the quarterback for the former Super Bowl Champions the New York Giants. Peyton Manning is married to Ashley, a girl he met in college; they have been married since 2001.
Peyton attended Newman High School in New Orleans, LA, where he was the starting quarterback for three years. In the three years, Manning recorded 92 touchdowns and threw for 7,207 yards. Manning was a three sport athlete; he also played baseball and basketball. After high school, Manning went on to the University of Tennessee, which surprised a lot of people. In college, Manning broke many records and threw for 11,201 yards and scored 89 touchdowns. After college, Manning was selected first overall by the Indianapolis Colts in the 1998 draft.
In the 10 seasons that Manning has lead the Colts, many records were broken and many games won. Manning lead the Colts to a Super Bowl victory in the 2006-2007 season, and it earned him the coveted title of MVP. The 2008 season has been a bit of a roller coaster season for Manning and the Colts. Manning had surgery performed prior to the season on an infected bursa sac in his knee. There have been rumors that Manning actually had 2 surgeries, but that information has not been confirmed.
